Prep Time 8-12 MINUTES
Difficulty BEGINNER
Good For 2-3 PEOPLE
Ingredients
1 800 G - AGED ANGUS STEAKS
2 15 G - FRESHLY GROUND ROCK SALT
3 5 G - FRESHLY GROUND BLACK PEPPER OR ANY OF YOUR FAVORITE SPICES
4 5 ML - COOKING OIL
Steps
1 After thawing your steaks, brush both sides of the meat with a light coat of neutral cooking oil. Season each side with salt and black pepper right before cooking.
2 Preheat the pan on high heat for about 5 minutes.
3 Gently place your steak on the pan and sear each side for about a minute and a half or until golden brown, then reduce heat to medium and finish cooking to your desired doneness. For 1-inch thick steaks, cook for an additional 1 minute for medium rare; 3 minutes for medium and 5 minutes for well done.
4 Allow the steaks to rest on a cooling rack or a warm plate for a few minutes after cooking - don't serve it right away! Once it's rested for a few minutes, serve your steaks with assorted steamed or grilled vegetables such as carrots, squash, zucchini or even corn on the cob topped with butter, or carbs like potato wedges and mashed potatoes.
Tips
1 While pan-frying the steak, you can baste it with herbed butter for that rich buttery flavor.
2 Check the heat intensity by placing your palm about 2 inches away from the pan; you should only be able to keep your hand there for not more than 2 seconds.
3 You can turn your steaks with a long-handed tong to prevent loss of juices, which can happen when punctured with a fork or pressed with a spatula!
